Passive income on autopilot? This also requires a lot of work on the Internet. This article explains how best to proceed and provides inspiration for your first steps.
The hope for fast money drives thousands of users every month into the arms of “marketers” who promise a passive income with dubious methods. They pose in front of holiday backdrops and on dream yachts, suggest the very big lifestyle. Their strategies are available as expensive e-books or courses, but rarely target-oriented. Money can only be earned by those who also design dubious strategies and exemplify the dream of big money to others.
Earn money without work? Sorry, that’s not possible.
The cause of this problem lies on the one hand on the part of the “marketers” and their “strategies”, whose success is primarily based on deception. On the other hand, it also lies on the part of their customers, whose desperate hope for big money forces ill-considered reactions.
Even if “passive income” suffers from a bad reputation due to the problems described, it is possible. We all earn passively, ´ if we carry money to the bank and receive interest – although the inflation from alleged profits makes fast clear losses.
Money can put on however only, who has money. There are similar conditions also in the digital Business. Only those who create the necessary foundations can be successful. It doesn’t matter which strategies are used. The basics always remain the same.
Passive income is the promise, but how is that supposed to work? In accordance with the dubious strategies of those who promise great income in a dreamlike setting, here is the “ultimate 4-step system” – in other words: the basics.
Work: Those who promise passive income without work lie. I’ve been waiting for years for those who prove me wrong.
Reach: Those who invest a lot of work hope for results. A first success is generated reach, no matter which way.
Turnover: Whether through your own products or advertising, whoever invests work and reaps reach generates turnover in the third step.
Passive income: The last step often holds the biggest problems. Only those who can keep their traffic without work generate a passive income. The final goal is therefore a self-sustaining system.
The four steps outlined form the basis of passive income. Anyone who knows them knows that it is not possible to earn money quickly on the Internet either. We now want to clarify which tactics are used in these steps and inspire all those who are not afraid of hard work.
And let’s not kid ourselves: If hard work doesn’t put you off, you also know that such income has to be taxed. Regardless of whether you are already self-employed or employed in other areas. And if you’re a permanent employee, you should also take a look at your employment contract and see if you’re allowed to do a part-time job – or if you need to discuss it with your boss.
Your commitment and your perseverance, in other words your work, determine the success of your projects. Contrary to popular belief, effort is required long before the first word is written or the first advertisement is placed, namely in the conception phase. In many cases it is the cornerstone of your success.
Your further strategy decides what to do. If, in the second step, you rely on search engines as your traffic source, our articles on keyword research and keyword tools will help you. If you want to buy traffic, the preparation strongly depends on the platform or the network.
In the previous paragraphs it was already clear how projects with the ultimate objective of passive income usually generate reach: They rely either on search engines or traffic purchasing. Other organic sources, such as social networks, require permanent work – even if the project is supposed to run on autopilot.
The two traffic sources mentioned are not for absolute beginners, if they are to function on a long-term basis. Readers can only acquire the necessary knowledge in the course of their project. But it already helps in the first step, the conception. Those who learn from patients give away the potential of a good diagnosis. A certain amount of prior knowledge is therefore helpful.
As with traffic, there are essentially two common tactics for turnover: Advertising and products. In the following, we will take a look at some examples of these two categories.
Banner: The classic is advertising, usually in the form of banners. Their principle is simple: more reach means more income. Another plus point are lucrative target groups. After all, a website about sewing achieves lower banner prices than a specialist blog about financial products.
Affiliate: One of the most common methods to monetize small niche sites and at the same time one of the hooks of our article “Fuck Google AdSense”. Who starts a new project, can already in the conception with networks such as Affilinet or Belboon in the apron an impression of the offered partner programs provide itself.
Infoproducts: So-called info products are also very popular. As the name suggests, they provide information on specific topics in various formats. These are often e-books which, according to their author, solve certain problems. The most well-known and at the same time most unpopular example are the previously sketched “money maker” programs, with which you “guarantee” and “immediately” earn at least “3,772 euros”. But nobody has to be impressed by such a bad example, there is another way.
Photos and videos: Photographers and filmmakers are not necessarily dependent on customer work. Instead, they can offer their work on platforms such as Fotolia (commission link) or iStockphoto and publish it on platforms such as YouTube and Vimeo (commission link). The Cologne-based Robert Kneschke makes more than 10,000 euros per month in sales of stock photos.
E-Books: Digital books do not always fall into the category “info product”. Thanks to numerous platforms (e.g. Amazon (commission link) with its “Kindle Direct Publishing”) and tools (e.g. Scrivener), publishing your own e-book is easier than ever, even for inexperienced authors.
Software: The programming and sale of software also offers great potential. However, this does not only mean software in the classic sense, but also plug-ins or themes for WordPress, for example. If you have some capital at hand, you can also purchase the professional development via platforms such as Odesk.
Hardware: Whether with your own warehouse and dispatch, a service provider such as Amazon (commission link) or via Dropshipping: classic trade flourishes on the Internet. It is difficult to earn money passively – drop shipping is the only exception – but with the right system the effort can be minimized. The fourth stage of the above-mentioned instructions is therefore decisive here.
The most curious systems for automating your own business model circulate on the Internet. Technically sophisticated solutions are often particularly successful. They monetize purchased traffic over hundreds of automatically played and adapted landing pages and guide the individual user through a complex system of different offers. It is clear that it is also much easier. However, those marketers who think further than the rest often prove to be particularly successful.
